The human heart

Why feelings go to heart

Strength is in the muscles, mind in the brain, warmth in the blood, taste on the tongue, soul in the eyes, touch on the skin, beauty on the face. Where in the body are love and hate located?

One speaks of the heart as the seat of love and hate. Various scientific theories want to prove this. There is an easy way to experience the seat of feelings for yourself. If e.g. For example, when you see two people in love, your heart starts beating faster, even racing. The same thing happens when you see a person who has caused you harm; here, too, the heart begins to be restless. When excited, whether from joy or fear, the heart beats faster. Accordingly, the heart is also a seat of emotions. The researcher Reiner Krutti writes the following about this on the Internet:

"In our heart there is a complex nervous system that acts as a separate"small brain" is working. It consists of many thousands of nerve cells that form a comprehensive, independent system that maintains a constant dialogue with the actual brain via the heartbeat pattern. That is, the heart perceives things and feels. And when it speaks, it affects the physiology of our entire body, starting with the brain. The key lies in this heart-brain communication emotional intelligence. But what language does our heart actually speak.”

He continues: “We can develop our heart intelligence at any time. The first step is to reduce negative emotional charge and regain inner balance. Only then, in a second step, can we fully concentrate on the conscious experience of pleasant emotions. develop heart intelligence Positive feeling instead of positive thinking! To do this, we can create opportunities within ourselves that generate positively charged emotions. Because we all have a multitude of pleasant emotions within us such as appreciation, compassion or gratitude saved, that we just have to be aware of.”

According to the above paragraph, there are two special places in the human body where its intelligence resides: the rational mind in the brain and the emotional sphere in the heart. These two must consciously correspond with each other; ie mind and emotions must be balanced - not too lax or too strict. As an example, the term "monkey love" should clarify what a blind one-sided love embodies. Both mildness and severity must apply. Not everything that looks good has to be good. This correspondence between the brain and heart can be very tiring.

The following can also be read in the Bible about this “heart-brain” object: “But when the LORD saw that the wickedness of men was great on earth and that all their thoughts and thoughts were great her heart only evil was always …” (Genesis 1:6,5) “My mouth shall speak wisdom and the thinking of my heart be understanding." (Psalm 49,4:XNUMX) "... Think in your heart be on your bed and be still!” (Psalm 4,5:XNUMX) “But when Jesus understood their reasoning, He answered and said to them, “Why are you pondering? in your hearts?” (Luke 5,22:XNUMX)

Both the brain and the heart are very valuable organs that could only come from the hand of God. Both are not only able to learn, but also to store what they have learned, otherwise all learning would be useless. Man has acquired both and can deal with them as he sees fit.

It was said above that noble qualities are stored in the heart. One might ask, "How did they get there, always wanting to influence and shape the "thinking" of the heart?" What does the Bible say about this?

Above all: "For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2,10:XNUMX) Accordingly, our hearts were created for good purposes and goals and been determined. Even more: “HE (God) also sealed us and given the pledge of the Spirit in our hearts (saved).” (2 Corinthians 1,22:XNUMX) So man is a creature who, through the direct influence of the Spirit of God, can do works according to the will of God.

According to the Bible, every human being should deal and act sensibly with their own heart. Above all, that means doing what God says: "Give me, my son, your heart..." (Proverbs 23,26:51,12) In other words: "Give me, my son, the center of your feelings!" , O God, a pure heart, and give me a steadfast spirit within me again!” (Psalm 119,32:32,40) “In the way of your commandments I will run, for you enlarge my heart.” (Psalm XNUMX:XNUMX ) "And I (God) will put my fear in their hearts, lest they turn away from me." (Jeremiah XNUMX:XNUMX)

This is what the original heart looked like, filled only with the Spirit of God. Then Satan came and affected the human "mind" of the heart. It happened for the first time with Eve in paradise and since then it has gripped the hearts of people - including the heart of a disciple of Jesus: "And during the meal, when the devil had already given Judas, Simon's son, Iscariot, to his heart betray" (John 13,2:XNUMX)

Humans can also sneak into the human heart. A friend or other influential personality can be particularly dangerous. The result is today's reality of gray everyday life: “The heart is exceedingly deceitful and malicious; who can fathom it?” (Jeremiah 17,9:15,18) The Lord Jesus said: “But what goes out of the mouth comes out of the heart, and that defiles a man.” (Matthew 29,13:XNUMX) “Then the Lord says: Because this people draws near to me with their mouth and honors me with their lips, yet keeps their heart far from me...” (Isaiah XNUMX:XNUMX)

A good ethical influence on the heart is brought about by contemplation of the Bible with its plan of salvation, the goal of which is the beautiful new earth. The description of the nature that surrounds us, the entire flora and fauna, promotes gratitude, good feelings and cheerful thoughts of the heart. Such a good influence on the heart is also caused by attractive, kind and loving conversations. A daily conscious formation of the heart is particularly effective on the character.

The Bible has very good and wise advice that can be used for the heart:
“A cheerful heart is good for the body; but a troubled mind causes the bones to wither.” (Proverbs 17,22:XNUMX)
"A cheerful heart promotes recovery, but a downcast spirit dries up the bones." (Psalm 17,22:XNUMX)

It is very fitting and commendable for the formation of any character to cultivate the conscious multifaceted formation of one's sensitive heart together with sincere prayer. This behavior molds every human being into a child after God's own heart; after all, He creates it again!
